Finedon Volta

The first team we ever played in the ill-fated WAFL were Finedon Volta. The club secretary Jeff Piggott recently sent me details of their progress since:

" we too have some success since the demise of the WAFL, the
Northants comb has restructured since we joined and now has 4 divisions prem,1,2,3, and 3 reserve divisions (all reserve sides) we were put into div 2 did ok, lost cup final, but following season won div 2,into div 1 finishing 3rd, that's where our quest for new facilities started, but as you know we are surrounded by UCL clubs and our 1st team lost a lot of players to Thrapston and we have had to play the youngsters. After been relegated, this season has been tough with the same young side finding their feet and surviving in div 2 ,and with the wet weather, snow etc, we have just finished, our project is at the final stage with the foundation and we must now wait for June meeting of the National game board to see if our future is secured, our new building is to include separate changing rooms for teams and officials all to minimum F.A. sizes kitchen, social area, toilets, total cost with all fees vat etc 165000,we have 70000, so we ONLY want 95000 (not even the price of a good conference striker), fingers crossed we hope to start building July 2nd,    the dreaded Nucabs changed their name to Cannons Pride, being full of Londoners (and Arsenal fans bad luck) and as they are such a poor bunch of losers they have called it a day this season, the comb has its own website at www.northantsConbynation.co.uk  you will find some familiar names.
