The Billy Foulkes Page
Billy (or William?) is keeping his eye in over there, a report on the VMSL (Vancouver Metro Soccer League) web-site March 9th 2001......."One major upset, one near upset, and a couple of mildly surprising results took place in the round of 16. The upset took place on Sunday at South Memorial Park where Richmond United 'A' of the first division eliminated the premier division Firefighters 'A' by defeating them 3-1. William Foulkes gave Richmond the early lead, a lead which quickly evaporated when Greg Pears replied for the Firemen. Before the half time whistle, speedy Jason Small scored what proved to be the winner for Richmond on a breakaway, a feat which he repeated late in the second half. Richmond United will now travel to Port Moody Town Centre on Friday evening to take on the Metro-Ford Wolves." And in the next round............ (just goes to prove these North Americans On Friday evening, at Port Moody Town Centre, the Metro-Ford Wolves eliminated
the last surviving first division team, Richmond United 'A', by a
3-1 score. Iain Sneddon scored twice for the Wolves, while Michael
Evans added what proved to be the winner midway through the second half.
William Foulkes replied for Richmond with an unbelievable
full-volley strike from about 35 meters out.
The saga continues, whilst over for a couple of weeks in April 2001 Billy came along to watch the game at Cottenham. A pile-up on the A14 meant we were short at the start and Billy deputised as an emergency centre-half. We won the game 4-1 (see the match report) and he had a great game.
