Fondly remembered moments of 2001/02 Well, I saw the first caution of the season being administered to 'Nasty' Nick Dyer for shirt pulling (and giving away a penalty!) but it hasn't come through yet. A deliberate hand-ball at Shelford brought Nicks second booking we'll have to wait and see if that one gets processed. The first ones to hand were to the Bruise Brothers: Dan Plumb v Sawston - "..... I cautioned Mr Plumb for a late tackle", come on Ref that's a bit boring, think of my readers. Conners v St Ives Rangers - ".... where Mr Conway gained possession but was challenged by a St Ives player, Mr Conway thought he had been fouled and reacted in a threatening manner and had to be restrained, I cautioned him for unsporting behaviour", sounds like he's been getting coaching from his brothers. Another regular for this page....... Lee Clutterbuck v Hemingford - "...impeded the progress of an opponent with a deliberate late tackle and was duly cautioned", to be fair to Lee he had tracked back while the rest of his mates were still up the pitch and scythed the guy down when he had no other option, he 'took one for the team', good on yer Lee. Ah Nick gets his comeuppance - "... seen to deliberately handle the ball thus breaking down a promising Shelford attack" - should have sent him off Ref. Carl Harker v J. M. Sports - "... jumped into a tackle ... . late and dangerous" - get back in goal Carl, it's cheaper! The third brother strikes again (Matt Plumb v Soham Town Res.) - '... confronted an opponenent (sic) in an overly aggressive manner and was duly cautioned guilty of unsporting behaviour' - yes, but at least he can spell opponent Ref. Joe Walsh picked up his 'first booking ever' Saturday 28th September v Woodlands '...... late tackle .. waffle, waffle, waffle ... persistently infringing the laws of the game .. waffle, waffle' - and then was sent off the following day, way to go Joe! Andy Cummins v St. Neots RAFA - "... made a clumsy tackle from behind" - having been kicked to pieces for 82 minutes (with no protection) booked for a clumsy tackle, thanks Ref! Lee Clutterbuck v St. Neots RAFA - "... at the end of normal time ... asked me why I had cautioned the number nine earlier in the game ... having given my explanation ... said to me that 'I was a joke' ... cautioned him for dissent" - Yep, that sound like Lee to me, in fact Lee got it wrong, a joke is supposed to be funny. Still, the Referee got it right the following week because in the replay he sent two of theirs off. Ian Dawkes v Debden - "deliberately head-butted an
opponent", well it sure looked that way but no contact was made (the
opponent neither held his head nor fell to the ground) so it could easily have
been Dawksey follow up - on appeal reduced to 42 days. Matt Plumb v Debden - "deliberately tripped an opponent from behind", sounds likely. More from the Paxton v Debden saga expected soon. Here they come... Danny Plumb v Debden - ".... tripped an opponent with a late and unfair tackle' - sounds more than likely. Danny Plumb v Debden (again) - " ... guilty of a late
tackle" - two in one Danny Kennedy v Debden - "... adopting an aggressive attitude towards an opponent", what? Danny, no I don't believe it, much. Rob Seal v Debden - "... cautioned for a late tackle", yeah, so? Nick Dyer v RAFA - '..... kicked the ball away after I had awarded a foul ... a deliberate action to waste time ... It was following this incident that a RAFA player attacked Mr Dyer putting hands around his throat (subject of a separate report)., Nick you are turning into a bad boy! Lee Clutterbuck v Potton - "in the 81st minute Clutterbuck tripped an opponent", fair enough Ref, I had him scything down an opponent in the area, sounds much better. James Fieldhouse v Bassingbourn - "... made a late and reckless challenge on an opponent" - naughty James. Rob Seal v Bassingbourn - "... fouled an opponent. He then adopted an aggressive attitude towards me because I had given the free-kick" - Rob, if the Ref gives a foul then shut-up and get on with it. Ian Dawkes v Foxton - "reckless tackle..... catching the legs of an opponent without making contact with the ball". - 10 minutes to go and 5-0 up with an appeal against the sending off (see above) a week later. Nice one! Rob Seal v Mildenhall Res. - "a very late robust tackle" - well Ref, I was in a much better position to judge the incident than you were and I completely agree, the tackle was pretty awful. Gareth Bridges v Mildenhall - "after a goal was scored I saw Gareth Bridges shouting at my assistant saying 'That was rubbish, he was offside', I cautioned him......", hey Ref, surely you can concede that being rooted to your goalline is the best place to judge offside from, far better than being in-line with the last defender surely? Brian Kitchin v Huntingdon Town - "made a late challenge" - come on Ref, with the pace that Kitch has got he did well to make it at all!. Simon Oxborough v Huntingdon Town - "deliberately tripped an opponent as he passed" - sorry Ref, I've talked to Simon and he assures me he hacked him down knee high. Adam Mayhew v Over Sports - "guilty of a late tackle" - not bad Adam only 37 minutes into your debut game and already in the book. Dan Plumb v Over Sports (it must be another late tackle) , yep! - "guilty of a late tackle" - Ref, Dan would like you to take another 157 offences into consideration. Glenn Farra v Godmanchester Rovers Res. - "Foul .... that was late and high' - Well done Glenn, 80 minutes into your debut and booked already, you should fit in a treat. Danny Garbould v Bassingbourn - "After I penalised his team mate for being offside the player came towards me shouting 'Absolutely rubbish Ref, that was never offside'. I took the appropriate action." - Danny has got to learn that if you're playing with Knowlsey, he's always offside. Danny Kennedy v Fordham - "... after being fouled he adopted an aggressive manner towards an opponent" - You mean he objected to being punched, I'm not surprised'. Andrew Conway v Fordham Res.- This should be good! - " In the 78th minute the player would appear to run into me from behind knocking me to the ground where he then stepped on my foot. Both of these incidents would appear to have been accidental ?. But when at the next corner he said 'Where are you standing this time' I cautioned him as the manner of delivery of the comment was unsporting and dissentive." - Now that is exactly what the Ref (Mr Leonard) wrote, the question mark and everything is exactly as on his report. He didn't mentioned he chalked off three, yes, three! perfectly good goals, two of which Conners had scored. Dan Kennedy v Godmanchester Res. - "...late tackle..." come on Dan, you need to get a bit more creative. Matt Plumb v St. Ives Rangers - "I signalled a decision against Great Paxton and Matt Plumb responded by waving his arms and shouting 'Rubbish Ref' I spoke to the player and asked him to accept the decision and get on with the game but he persisted with his argument." What? Matt? I don't believe it, much! Ian Dawkes v St. Ives Rangers - "cautioned for a trip on an opponent", happens. Luke Catchpole v St. Ives Rangers - "I signalled a throw in to St. Ives, Luke Catchpole responded by shouting 'Rubbish Ref.' and waving his arms. I cautioned him for dissent", a chip off the old Matty, eh? Danny Plumb v Mildenhall - "late and reckless challenge on his opponent" - the same old story. Glenn Farra v Waterbeach - "late tackle" - there is nothing left to say. Lee Clutterbuck v Waterbeach - "late tackle" - come on lads this is really boring. Stuart Harper v Ramsey Res. - "late tackle" - that's spoilt Stuarts good record, first this season, none last. Simon Oxborough v Ramsey Res. - "late tackle" - Simon is in training as Matt's protégé. Gary Mansfield v Ramsey Res. - "late tackle" - Seems to be an outbreak of them. Glenn Farra v Sawston - "blatantly impeded an opponent" - well it was six of one and half dozen of the other until the Sawston player tried to body check Glenn and ended up on the deck injured. Ian Dawkes v Sawston - "late and unfair tackle" - yep. Ian Dawkes v Sawston - "... deliberately and violently
stamped on his opponent leg" - no arguments Ref. that is indeed what
happened but if you'd given him a bit more protection earlier on it probably
wouldn't Glen Farra v Great Shelford - "...... adopted an aggressive attitude towards an opponent after he had been fouled by him." - I don't remember the incident but it seems likely. Lee Clutterbuck v West Wratting - "In the 19th minute ... repeatedly queried several of my decisions" - Lee, SHUT UP!!. Lee Clutterbuck v West Wratting - "In the 21st minute
... tackled an opponent without making contact with the ball in an aggressive Dan Kennedy v West Wratting - "In the 22nd minute .... tripped an opponent who had passed him" - obviously what had happened before had no bearing on this. Matt Plumb v Cottenham - "Matt Plumb said 'That Linesman's crap', I told him to keep quite (sic) he then said 'Well it's the truth'. I cautioned him for dissent". The word is 'quiet' Ref, and as Matt was initially talking to a teammate, not you, it seems a pretty feeble excuse for a booking. And now the Sawston Cup-Final ....... Glenn Farra - "43rd minute .... unsporting behaviour following an unnecessary challenge" - Also sound likely. Matt Plumb - "58th minute .... unsporting behaviour" - sound familiar. Simon Johnson - "88th Minute .... unsporting behaviour" - Come on Ref. this is boring. Dan Plumb - "88th minute .... violent conduct ....
following an incident where I witnessed his throwing a punch" - well if
you witnessed it why did you book two other players before having a long chat
with your Lee Clutterbuck - sorry reports of the two incidents not
provided. The first seemed to be for heading the ball off the line and the
second for
